Product Details

Unlock the art of fermentation with this perfect Fermenting Lid! Designed to transform your wide-mouth mason jars into fermenting powerhouses, this essential kitchen accessory allows you to create delicious, homemade fermented vegetables with ease. The lid features an adjustable platform to keep your produce submerged, ensuring optimal fermentation while preventing spoilage. The airtight seal, combined with a one-way release valve, lets CO2 escape without letting air in, perfect for creating your favorite fermented treats. Our fermenting lid fits all standard wide-mouth canning jars, including popular brands like Ball, Kerr, Anchor, and Kilner, so there's no need for special jars—just grab what you already have at home!

The user-friendly design includes an adjustable platform and CO2 one-way release valve, making it easy to customize your fermentation process. Simply place the lid on top of your jar, rest it on the rim, and screw down the band for a secure fit. If you encounter any issues during assembly, a quick dip in hot water for 30-60 seconds will soften the silicone band for easier handling. Constructed from durable nylon, this fermenting lid measures 3.25” x 3.25” x 2” and is specifically designed for wide-mouth mason jars. For longevity, please hand wash only—this product is not dishwasher safe. Sold as individual lid - Jar and ring not included

How to use

Prepare Your Vegetables: Wash and chop your vegetables as desired. Make sure they are clean and free from dirt.

Pack the Jar: Fill your wide-mouth mason jar with the prepared vegetables, leaving about an inch of headspace at the top. You can also add seasonings, herbs, or spices to enhance the flavor.

Add Brine (if needed): If your recipe calls for a brine, prepare it using water and salt (typically a 2% salt solution) and pour it over the vegetables, ensuring they are fully submerged.

Install the Fermenting Lid: Place the Perfect Fermenting Lid on top of the jar so that it rests on the rim. The adjustable platform will help keep your vegetables submerged.

Secure the Lid: Screw the metal band down over the fermenting lid to secure it in place. Make sure it’s snug but not overly tight.

Release Valve: The one-way release valve will allow CO2 to escape during the fermentation process, preventing pressure build-up.

Ferment: Place the jar in a cool, dark location, ideally at room temperature, for the fermentation period specified in your recipe. This can range from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the type of vegetable and your taste preference.

Check the Progress: After a few days, check your ferment for flavor and texture. You can leave it to ferment longer for a stronger flavor.

Store in the Fridge: Once fermented to your liking, remove the lid and transfer the vegetables to the refrigerator to slow down the fermentation process.

Enjoy Your Creation: Your homemade fermented vegetables are now ready to enjoy! Use them in salads, sandwiches, or as a flavorful side dish.

Note: If you encounter any difficulty assembling the lid, run the silicone band under hot water for 30-60 seconds to soften it for easier placement. Remember to hand wash the lid after use to maintain its quality. Happy fermenting!
